Satu

Indonesia, 2018, 6 min.

Director: Farrah Aulia Azliani

Satu is a short film that tries to talk about human differences through a metaphor. A group of humans is described as being in a circle. Within this group there are various kinds of people with different backgrounds. Each of these humans represents every issue of difference in the world such as gender, religion, as well as social economic status. They regard these statuses and differences as important in carrying out social life and do not realize that real differences are made so that each human being is complementary to each other.

Minem is considered a nice and likeable student in his school. One day, when going to his class, he sees Faris, one of his schoolmates - who is a big and sullen person - bump into a girl and knock her down. Minem quickly helps the girl as Faris walks by. After helping the girl, he goes to his class and finds himself outside the school again. When he enters the school once more, he sees the exact same thing repeating – a girl knocked down after bumping into Faris.
